I have a 1994 honda civic 1.5 4 door automatic 77,000 miles on it. The SRS light is on on the dash and is staying on all the time. I do not know what it is or what it is for.

High there,

S.R.S. Stands for Supplementary Restraint Systems. This being Air bags and belt pre tensioners. While the SRS light is on the safety systems are in-op. If you get a code read it will give a fault code for what ever has failed, you will need to do this first, before any action is taken.

Hi there,

Nearly all mechanical work shops should have a universal code reader, it will take about 2 minutes to read, just make a phone call to your mechanic and ask if they have the scanner. I do believe that you will be able to purchase a scanner to suit you car cheaply, and I see that some parts outlets do scan reads as well, as I am in Australia, I don't know who can do this, but you should be able to find out with a few phone calls.
