My car hestiates

I have a 97 Honda Civic EX with 140000 miles. There was a rain storm when going to work so I went thru this big puddle of water then after that the car started hesitating when I would accelerate. I drove home and parked the car. I then went to work and came home in the afternoon and the problem was still there but not as mcuh as it was in the morning please tell me what is wrong with my car thanks.

I would start with taking apart the air intake system. The filter could be wet and cars don't burn water all that well. Next I would look at the distributor and take the cap off, make sure the wires are dry.
