Fuel filter for 02 Civic

I have a 2002 civic EX. I need to change to fuel filter but I can't seem to find it. I followed the fuel line from the fuel rail all the way to the gas tank, but I still could not find the filter. I can't seem to find it on the car anywhere. I'm wondering if the car doesn't have one, but it should because at the parts store I told them all the spec and they gave me a filter. Chould you help me locate it?

Check a manual on your civic from chilton at your local library or book store. It will show you everything.

I could be dead wrong, but I always thought there were two fuel filters, one inside the gas tank and the other attached to the engine.
