I've been noticing quite a bit of fluid on the floor of my garage lately. I looked under the car and noticed beads of fluid on the bottom of my transmission housing. The aforementioned puddle of fluid on the ground is directly below the transmission housing. The left (drivers side) of the transmission is damp (quite a bit of fluid has been thrown around in the area. On the driveshaft, oil pan, etc) but the right (passenger) side of the transmission housing is dry. Is this most likely a bad/leaky seal? If so, is this a repair that either my boyfriend or I would be able to complete (neither of us is very car savvy but not for lack of intelligence but rather lack of experience). Would we have to pull out the entire drive shaft? Thanks, carly

First check your transmission fluid and your engine oil. Usually whichever one is low is your culprit.

Personally, I would clean the whole engine off with brake cleaner and let it run while on jack stands. After a while of it idling you should start to see where the oil leak is coming from.
