2003 Honda Civic lifter?

The engine started making a rattle or knocking noise at first it wasn't that loud. We did not use the car for a while due to not knowing the problem. I then decided to go get an oil change and then the noise became very loud and the car did not want to go over 20 and would die. What could this be and is it worth fixing

Hi there,

You will need to do a few tests, check the valve clearances and check for a broken valve spring, do a comp test and check the oil pressure with a master gauge, you may have to get a mechanic to determine which cylinder is at fault and do a leak down test as this will help detect a cracked piston, start here.
