Engine Performance problem
2000 Honda Civic 4 cyl Automatic 81500 miles

I went to have my oil changed during which they rotated my tires and changed the air filter. When I left the mechanic shop I noticed differences in my car, the brakes, steering and even gas peddle all felt looser. After driving a short distance to a store and upon starting my car it would not release from Park, later that day I went out and the engine was running hard as I drove, and it excellarated when I released the gas peddle instead of slowing, and when I went to stop it jumped forward and the engine revved to a 4, I got it in park and shut it off, after about 10 min started it again and it continued to rev at 4 and it would not release from park. I talked to the place that did the oil change and they say they couldn't have done anything to cause the problem, however I'm making them look at it. I do know that my oxygen sensors and idle control valve need to be replaced, would the idle control valve have anything to do w/ this? I just had the transmission fluid changed a week ago and they didn't see anything wrong at the time, nor has the car ever revved itself like this. Any idea what would cause the problem? Could something have been damaged while on the lift at the mechanic? Thank you

Hi jhayes971,

Thank you for the donation.

Problem should be caused by the the throttle plate in open position. Check for foreign materials lodged between th throttle plate.

Lifting the car on a hoist should not cause such problems.
