Transmission problem
1999 Honda Civic 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

When driving down the road, the car automatically shifts into neutral. I have to pull off the road, cut car off, crank it back up and it will go. It may shift back into neutral shortly or it will continue fine. What is the problem?

Hi SMcAlhany,

Possible causes:
1. Low fluid level or cloggged fluid strainer.
2. Sensor or solenoids malfunctioning.
3. Control module malfunctioning.
4. Trans internal leakages.

If the D4 light is blinking, you have an error with the control system and you need a scan to retrieve the code to find out what is wrong.
