Hi I have a 1998 honda civic si (canadian) with 260000kms, the motor has been changed about 2 years ago, the car just started idling funny, it idles between 1000rpm then jumps to 2000rpm and this repeats over and over, the check engine light is not on. The car still drives very good with as much power as before, its just idling bad, could this be a sensor?

Hi Etienne1,

This should not be a sensor problem. Check for vacumn leakage and a stuck IAC valve.

Hi Etienne1,

If the IAC is stuck, high possibility you need to replace it. I always try to clean it with carb cleaner then use some lubricants to try to get the valve moving, the end bearings are not easy to lubricate. DO NOT disassemble as the factory settings will be disturbed resulting in inaccurate operations.
