When the engine is cold and I first start it the idle goes up to 2000 rpm. When the engine warms up a little it starts oscillating between 2000 and 1000 every second.

Hi paul10301,

The idle control system is malfunctioning and possible causes are

1. Clogged or stuck/faulty IAC valve.

2. Vacumn leakages.

3. Lack of engine coolant or clogged IAC valve coolant hoses.

Is the Check Engine Ligght showing?

Hi paul10301,

Sorry for the late reply.

If the CEL is showing, you need to get a scan done to find out what is wrong with the engine management system.

Try your local Autozone outlet.
