Hi I need to replace catalytic converter to my 1998 Honda Civic EX.
Is there any problem if I purchase the catalytic converter from any online website for cheaper price than at the show room parts, and fix it through any auto service?

Please let me know how serious is the caalytic converter problem?
How much time can I drive the car with out fixing this issue.

Hi Krishna,

If the catalytic converter is faulty but not plugged, you can continue to drive without any serious problem but it would cause the Check Engine Lamp to indicate and fuel consumption would be afected.

Non OEM catalytic converters usually do not last as long as OEM and could cause the CEL to show if it does not perform as expected.
