1997 Honda Civic Cars vibrates and shakes

I have a 97 honda civic which I knows needs an alignment, but because its makes a clacking noise when I turn and it feels like it is wobbling when I drive 20 miles or less, a friend told me that the alignment would not do anything good until I get the clacking and wobbling fixed.
