1996 Honda Civic tranny question

I just put in a new clutch and heard a loud weird nosie when I was placing it in. I have the front 2 wheels lifting off the ground and when I spin them nothing inside the trans seems to be moving. Is it suppose to move if the wheels are off the ground?

If it's in gear it should move the shafts inside the transmission. If it's in neutral it won't really noticeable spin anything.

But this isn't a very accurate test. Ensure the axles are fully seated, and start the car (after putting transmission oil in it of course) and see if it goes into gear and everything functions.
