I have been driving my civic for about 4 years now, originally purchased it with about 64,000 miles on it. Since I have owned the car, the throttle has been making a loud sqeeking noise. People who drive in my car have discribed it as sounding like a really loud cricket. It happens on every gear and starts at a lower RPM. I do have a cold air intake connected to it. Thinking maybe it was the intake I took disconnected it from the throttle only to find that this "cricket" sounding noise was comming directly from the top of the throttle. Is there something I can do to get rid of this noise?

Is it coming from the throttle plate or cable?

It is coming directly from the throttle plate. Happens at a lower RPM and is quite loud. Like I stated before, it almost sounds like a cricket on steroids.

"cricket on steroids" I like that. Chances are the throttle plate is making the noise where it attaches on both sides of the throttle body. Take something like WD40 and spray a little on where the throttle plate to see if the sound changes or goes away.

Let me know.
