For 3 times so far my car has shut off when am slowing down to turn or stop at a light. I have replaced the spark plugs, and fuel filter, as well as distributor cap and rotor, and put in a oil and fuel cleaner. After the engine stop I put the car into park or neutral and try to start it, the engine turns over but does not start. My radio stays on, but none of the gauges turn on and my windows do not work when in acc. The first 2 times I was told it was my fuel line / filter getting clogged when the engine was slowing down so I replaced the filter. After a month I thought it was fine but it just happened again. What could it be that is causing the engine to shut off when running? It seems like an electrical problem but I am doubtful. Please help.

Hi drewmo,

Seems like your ignition switch could be faulty. Try slowly turning the switch to ON and see if all the dash lights are showing. If none or they flickers, then the switch is faulty and needs to be replaced. If that is okay I would change out the PGM FI relay. Here is the location. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what you find.

Cheers
