1994 Honda Civic knocking when turning

There is a knocking when I turn wheels while driving but happens when I turn corner I was told its the cv joint do I need to change the both drive shafts and both cv joints . Do I need to put new ones on or second hand if second hand how can I tell if they are any good please thanks cal
