Engine Performance problem
1993 Honda Civic 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic <100K miles

spark plugs terribly tight so I squirted a little oil down the holes to help ease 'em out, now it cranks unevenly and instantly fouls out the plugs with oil and carbon soot, acrid smoke eminates from holes when plugs removed. I cleaned, replaced, and fouled these plugs for almost an hour thinking excess penetrating oil was fouling them with no improvement. The car cranks like its out of time, puffing smoke and fouling plugs but it ran when I pulled out the original plugs

Hi Y-bot,

Did you test if sparks are present when cranking?

I would suggest checking the fuel quality and pressure as well.

Well, i'm an idiot. While working quickly in sub freezing temperatures I installed the ignition wires one place off on the distributor cap. Thanx to KNLow2008 for the prompt advice. Cheers

Glad you figured it out.
