I need some help.

I wanna add a 2nd alternator and 2 extra batteries, but have them be on their own separate circuit.

The concept being, have the cars original system running 12v, while having a separate system, power source, and batteries in series at 24v to run my HHO electrolyser.

I'm a backyard mechanic that has no problem welding up a new alt bracket and cutting into my hood if needed, but have no idea about wiring this up.

Hi esotericandme,

Hooking up the system is not difficult but will the 2 systems clash I do not know because you are running a 12v and 24 v circuit in parallel unless you can isolate the 2nd alternator grounding separately.

1. 24 v battery positive to alternator main output/input point.

2. 24 v battery current to charge indicator light to alternator charging point, if you want an indicator.

3. 24 v battery current to field coils, you can tap original ignition current supply to operate a relay to act as "ON/OFF" switch.

All done. Don't forget you need to have an alternator with built-in IC.
