I have a 1995 Honda Accord I just bought in March. I checked it out on Carfax and they offered a buy back gaurantee. The guy that sold it (of course) said nothing was wrong. 3 weeks after I bought the car I notice the car was running on the hot side. It didn't have that smell to it but the meter was all the way to the hot side (sometimes all the way off of the hot side). It doesn't take long before it reach the hot side (about a minute of two sometimes longer) What do you think the problem is. My boyfriend said it is the water pump but I kinda know more about cars than he does. I want to know before I take it to the shop. Thank you so much for your time

Obviously you start with the fluid level. Both in the radiator and the overflow tank. Then if it is full, get the car warm and open a bleeder and let out all of the air if the system. Check for leaks. A pump failure is a leak and they are usually severe in nature.

Good luck and let us know.
