My car shuts off.

1988, honda accord, 154500, I dn't know engine size. But my question is:

it take a while. But after a few minutes every time i'm going to make a complete stop or stop at a red light. My car shuts off. The only lights that come on are the oil and battery light. And it does it constantly. Do you know why?
