Honda Accord 1991 automatic with 170,000 miles 2 wheel drive. It drives fine when the gas tank is full but as soon as it reaches half tank my car will stall out when I come to a stop or sometimes when I turn ill lose anything. Sometimes if I pump the gas before it dies it wont kill. Also, sometimes the car smells like burning, I am not sure if it is rubbing on the tires or what. I realize this car is old but I need it to last me one more year. THanks!

If it is doing it only at half a tank and lower it probably needs a new fuel sending unit. What happens is with the age of the vehicle the metal tube that sends the gas to the motor from the gas tank has rusted and has a hole halfway up. Whenever you take your foot of the gas pedal it allows it to suck in air as well as fuel which causes it to die or stall. Kcjewell3@hotmail. Com
