95 Accord EX 4cyl light problem

My girlfriend just called me with a problem with her car. The "D" light blinks, and the check engine light is on. She's getting the car looked at, but the mechanic couldn't even find the computer cable. The car has in excess of 200k miles. Is the transmission likely? It seemed to stick a little for the last couple of years, but otherwise ran fine. Any ideas? Transmission computer etc.

That car is not OBD2 compliant but rather of earlier vintage. The OBD2 compliance did not kick in until the next years models. The light can be used to find the fault, but I don't know where the jumper connection is to do that. It is usually on the right passenger side up under the dash.
