I need to replace my brake light switch

I need to replace my brake light switch and am trying to do it myself. I want to make sure I do it correctly. How should I go about performing the switch?

Disconnect battery for safety. Unbolt switch from mounting location. Disconnect switch connector and remove switch. Connect new switch to connector. Bolt switch in place. Reconnect battery and inspect brake lamps to ensure they are working.
