I just repalced the brake light switch since I had no brake lights and I could not shift out of park without using the release.
No help. I released the button on the old switch whch was stuck in and re-installed it. No help.
Any suggestion?

Hi abaum and welcome to 2carpros

Get your shift interlock system checked out-could be the shift control solenoid

Good Luck

Perhap I should have given you more information.

1. I have no blown fuses.

2. I hear the clicking noise when the ignition is switch on in the console.

3. I have no brake lights.

4. I tried jumping the connector in all possible ways in order to complete a circuit. No help.

5 It acts like there is no power to the switch. I can also hear the relay above the switch kick on an off.

6. I put a multimeter on the new switch checking for continuity from any combination of two points. I get no continuity regardless of whether the buttons is out or depressed.

7. I am trying to avoid spending money here since I have been out of work for 8 months. That is why I came here instead of taking it to a shop.

When the button is out-you should have continuity and when depressed no continuity.

Check fuse no.47 20amp and fuse no.9 7.5amp

Have you checked the key interlock solenoid?-see shift interlock system circuit below
