Noises problem
1999 Honda Accord 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 170k miles

I'm hearing a strange humming/growling noise while driving my 1999 Honda Accord EX. It's hard for me to pinpoint where the noise is coming from. It starts when I hit about 20 mph and the faster I go, the louder it gets. When I turn the wheel to the right the noise stops completely. Could you offer any ideas as to what might be the cause of this? I hope that this is enough information but I will provide more if needed.

Thank you!

HI there,
Thank you for the donation,

From what you have said, I would first be checking front wheel bearings, as it is normal for failing wheel bearings to whine and increase with road speed, but with the noise easing up with the steering to the right, that is a bit odd. If the bearings are ok, I would start looking around the rest of the steering and the hydraulics as I am fairly sure that it will be something here, some times you just have to experience the problem to get a feel for what is going on, but with the change of noise with the steering this is the best clue as to where the problem is, check this out and get back if you find nothing there.
