1998 Honda Accord Temp gauge bouncing from Hot to Cold

I was driving today and my temp gauge started jumping from cold to hot and then back to normal/cold. It jumped around several times even after turning the air conditioning off and turning the fan off. It didn't seem to matter if those were on it just kept jumping. Any ideas?

Hi Nikki40,

Symptoms indicates a faulty gauge or wiring circuitry. Check if coolant level is sufficient and radiator fans are working to confirm that it is not due to overheating.

Check if the temperature sending unit wire is securely connected.
