Hello, my boyfriends cars check engine light recently came on. We took it to auto zone and ran a diagnostics on it. It came up as P0740. I was just wondering what this is and what it means? Is it a sensor? If it is where is it located? I really appreciate your time. Thank you.

This is the circuit that controls the torque converter which is where you get the over drive gears from.

I attached the info on the code and the testing that we need to go through in order to find out what the issue is. It could be the solenoid or the transmission may need to be replaced so we need to run through the testing.

Also, we need to run through these basic items when we are doing this testing so that we make sure we repair anything else we see because it could cause additional issues.
