My honda has started having sporatic problems. The speedometer starts going erratic and the engine starts hesitating.

These are most likely seperate issues.

The speedometer, may be caused by a vehicle speed sensor issue.

The engine problem, may be as simple as a foul spark plug or a dirty cap/rotor.
