I would not mess around with it. You need to know the oil pressure and a mechanic can tell you whether the pressure is sufficient by hooking up a pressure gauge on the vehicle. A loss of oil pressure means that some parts are not being lubricated as needed and those components are usually the head or valves. The temp could be related or seperate. I would start with pressure check and if it is ok then I might suspect a sensor.
The temp rise could be a leak in the system. It might not be leaking coolant but is not allowing the system to pressurize as it is supposed to. While the mechanic is checking the oil pressure he could also check the pressure of the cooling system too. I might consider starting with a replacement of the cooling thermostat as well.
If that all checks out ok might proceed to a leak down test to see if there is a problem with the head and head gasket.
