1993 Honda Accord Why does temp gauge go up so high?

Hi how are you doing I need help I changed the thermostat on my 1993 honda accord and before I changed the thermostat the temp gauge never went so close to the red mark near overheating and I checked the radiator amd the coolant resevoir is full and the thermostat was installed rite and the thermostat I bought is oem 175degrees for honda so I dont know what it could be why the gauge goes up so high next to overheating thecar never did this before I changed the thermostat please help me THANKS MIKE

Hi Mike,

Did you bleed the system after replacement of thermostat?

When did you last checked the radiator coolant level?
Did you check it when engine was cold?

Hey how are you? Yes I did bleed the system after I changed the thermostat and I checked the coolant yesterday and when it was cold and its still full of coolant and the car is still getting very hot please email me back and tell me what else you think it can be THANKS MIKE

I forgot to check with you if the fans were working with A/C on and when A/C is off, does the fans work continously or they work and stop intemittently?

Hi Mike,

When then fans are workiing and stopping intermittently, the system is not overheating and you are experiencing a false gauge reading. Possible causes are :
1. Faulty sending unit.
2. Faulty gauge.
3. Bad wire connectors.
4. Bad ground connections, check those behind the headlights attached to the inner panel.
