1990 Honda Accord Engine idling

The idle on my 1990 Accord LX goes up and down when cold and also when warm. It eventually subsides. My question is does the Idle Air Control valve needs replacing or can it be removed and cleaned with say WD40?

Hi hessie,

For this model it is more likely vacumn leakages than the EACV.

Check if idling speed is correctly adjusted.
Check for coolant shortage or clogging of coolant hoses to and from EACV.
