Hi there,

Often the miss fire on these can be coil related, as for the alt wire, check that the terminals are clean & tight at the alt & the battery, and make sure that the loom has not rubbed and is making a partial earth anywhere.

Have replaced the connection at alt end about three times so that is clean and the battery end is clean and tight also. Not sure about the condition of the rest of the wire but it is still in pretective black tubing. I am taking it to an auto elec tommorow just frustrating trying to find problem as I like to fix my own cars and have changed gearboxes and motors with no probs

Hi there,

The auto lec should be able to track down any short in the system, I would be thinking that there may be a fault with in the alternator, let me know how you get on.
