I had just replaced the pistons and the head. I'm sure I got everything put back together right. But it blows smoke out the exhaust very bad. After some research I found that there is oil getting into my cylinders. And I was wondering if it was possible for oil to get into the fuel through the high pressure fuel pump that's mounted in the front right top cor8?

Good afternoon,

The simple answer is no.

The oil is most likely coming from the piston rings.

When you replaced the pistons, did you check the taper and out of round in each cylinder?

Did you check the ring end gap before installing on the pistons?

2. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the high pressure fuel pump.
3. Remove the low pressure feed pipe. Refer to Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement (LAF) (See: Fuel Supply Line > Removal and Replacement > Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement).
4. Remove the high pressure pipe. Refer to Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe Replacement (See: Fuel Supply Line > Removal and Replacement > Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe Replacement). Discard this pipe.
5. Remove and discard the high pressure fuel pump bolts (1).
6. Remove the high pressure fuel pump (2).
7. Remove and discard the high pressure fuel pump O-ring (3).
8. Remove and discard the high pressure fuel pump gasket (4).
9. Remove the high pressure fuel pump roller lifter (5).

Yes, I did make sure the rings were installed right and with the splits opposed each other and another thing that leads me to that discussion is there is oil in all 4 cylinders. And I did check one last thing and I pulled the district and I smell gas in the oil.

I would remove the high pressure pump and inspect it. See if there is any oil in the lines to the injector rail.
