I saw where you answered a question about a car that is doing the same thing mine is. It will turn over. But I know a little about cars, but sent it to a shop were they gave us a bs story about it needing a new motor because a belt inside the engine was broken. I don't know what they were talking about, but it just didn't seem right what they were saying. Do you have any ideas?

Hello,

Unfortunately, the repair shop is correct. Your vehicle has what is called an interference engine. The timing belt keeps the crankshaft and the camshaft in time with each other and controls the pistons and the valve opening so the valves open and close when they are supposed to. When the timing belt breaks there is a very good probability the valve/piston damage will occur. In the diagrams down below I have included how the timing belt works on your engine. It is written by the vehicle manufacturer. I have highlighted specific information on the 5th page for you to pay special attention to. Please go through this guide and get back to us with what you decide to do.

Thanks,
Alex
