First gear to third gear and Limp mode?

My 2008 Mazda, six We’ll go from first gear to third gear and it goes in Limp mode The computer has no codes in it. I’ve already had it scanned it’s not bringing up anything could it be the shift sensor Help please

Hello,

When the transmission skips from 1st directly to 3rd and then goes into limp mode, that is a classic fail-safe strategy. What kind of scanner are you using, usually the car will have one or more of these codes:

P0715 - input speed sensor
P0720 - output speed sensor
P0750-P0760 - shift solenoid faults
P0733 - incorrect gear ratio

Is the speedometer working? I would try servicing the transmission by changing the fluid out. The input/output speed sensors will cause this problem FYI. Also, you might want to try a hard system reboot this video will show you how.
