My heater was working decent but flushed my coolant system because it was really nasty looking and now my heater is blowing cold air. The temp on the truck is running normal about half way. Well I do have some card board in front of the radiator because it wasn’t heating up all the way but I also changed the thermostat and it headed rite up. Changed thermostat like a week ago and heat been working but did the flush tonight and no heat

Good morning,

First, remove the block in the radiator. That will damage the engine.

I would start by flushing the heater core. Remove the hoses to the core and run a garden hose back and forth in the core until all the crap is out and you get good even flow from both sides. Then hook the hoses back up and test.

If it still has no heat, then you will need to replace the heater core.

REMOVAL
1. Allow the engine to cool.
2. Place a thick cloth over the radiator cap. Turn the cap slowly to its first stop to release system pressure. When the pressure has been released, tighten the radiator cap.
3. Disconnect the heater water hoses from the heater core. Plug the hoses.
4. Remove the glove compartment.
5. From inside the passenger compartment, remove the seven screws retaining the heater core cover to the heater air plenum chamber.
6. Disconnect the vacuum source. Leave the A/C plenum vacuum harness attached to the heater core cover. Remove the heater core cover.

7. Remove the heater core from the heater air plenum chamber.

INSTALLATION
1. Position the heater core and heater core case seal in the heater air plenum chamber.
2. Install the heater core cover on the heater air plenum chamber and secure it with its seven attaching screws. Make sure the A/C plenum vacuum harness is not trapped or pinched during the installation.
3. Connect the A/C plenum vacuum harness to its source connection.
4. Install heater water hoses on the heater core at dash panel in engine compartment. Do not overtighten the clamps.
5. Check coolant level and add coolant as required.
6. Check system for proper operation and coolant leaks.
7. Install glove compartment.
8. Check system for proper operation.
