Had run 12,000 miles with my car. Recently after the third service I found a groaning/rubbing sound coming while decelerating or when in neutral at around twenty to ten kmph. I cannot make out the sound when accelerating due to the turbo and when below the ten kmph mark. I had mentioned the service station about the skidding of my vehicle to one side on sudden application of brakes. I also asked them to check the front-left suspension as I once hit a very bad pothole with bursting of the left front tire. They said they did not find any problem with the suspension. Please help.

Check for a shield under car rubbing or the dust shield on disc brake rubbing against rotor. Then check tire/wheel for being bent.

I will see to it. Thank you for your help. Another thing what they did at the service station is they did wheel alignment and balancing. Can that be a cause?

Not really unless a wheel is loose and not tightened properly.

It could be an axle bearing that has gone out, here is a guide that may help you.
