1997 GMC Suburban What could be causing it to roll over but

I was called by the police to pick up my vehicle last night, when I got there the officer told me that it may have blown the water pump because there was water pouring out of the bottom, this is the first time it had ever gotten hot. It was towed back to my house and now that it is cool I tried putting water in it, the water is leaking out. There aren't any holes in the radiator that I can see, but it won't start at all. No water in the oil either, please tell me what to look for. Keep in mind that I am a woman be specific, I can't afford a mechanic right now, single mom of four kids.
