1995 GMC Sierra Upper Control Arm

I didn't mark my upper control arms when I removed them and now I can't tell which way to reinstall them. I know the right and left, but I can't which side faces up. Neither Chilton's or the GM manual are clear on this. The only descriptor is the part number stamped on one side.

I have the same picture and so far the only thing I can tell is that the brake line hole goes towards the front. I can't really tell if the same applies on the right side of the vehicle. It can be installed in either direction. I was hoping there was some documentation that says the stamped part number goes up or down when installed correctly. The part number is stamped near where the label is pointing on the picture. No worries if you don't have a better picture. It looks I'll be taking a trip to the junk yard to see if they have one still on a vehicle or try to stalk someone at the home depot to see if they'll let me check it out on their truck.

Appreciate the help, but that's for a 1500 version, I have the 2500 variant (4x4, 8600 lb). It looks more like the one in the previous diagram.

Yes but it points in the same direction. The ball joint is more forward then rearward. Here is the pic of the one for your truck. It is the left or drivers side.

Thanks, that's what I needed to know. I'm also assuming that the ball joint goes on the same side that the old one came off. All the pictures show it on the upper side of the control arm, but the original was riveted to the underside. Thanks again.

This is true the old is riveted but the new will be bolted so you are on track now. Thanks for your support.
