I have a 1997 GMC Savana Conversion van. My cruise control works when the headlights are off but if I turn the headlights on or they automatically turn on when it gets dark the cruise control will stop working. It seems to have something to do with the dash lights beacause the van has daytime headlights. I have never heard of something like this can you help me?

Do all of the lights in the back of the van work properly? The only place I can see that those two circuits meet is the brake light switch. Possibly a bad ground is causing a feedback through the switch and making the cruise not work.

I replaced the headlight switch just in case. When the switch is off and the daytime lights are on the cruise works. When I turn the headlight switch to the other two positions it does not allow the cruise control to work. I checked all of the lights and they all work. If there is a short is there a spot I shoould start looking?

The brake switch is the only place I can find where they intersect. Check all grounds under the dash
