Hmmm?/ Held the brakes on while backing down Icey hill. Well having lived in hilly north brakes and Ice don, t work well together, but thats another issue. About the only thing that could possibly happen to cause the brakes to affect the steering is that they are still applied (stuck) or something like that. If you drive a very short distance when vehicle is cold (do not use brakes) and drift to a stop, place in park. Get out and feel front wheels, if they are hot then brakes are dragging and need fixed before stuff gets ruined. The brakes should not affect the steering, I mean they are not interconnected in any way that comes to mind.
Good luck
Darryl.
