I'm told that the Idler arm needs to be replaced. Exactly what is this and what does it do. How important is the Idler Arm.

Your vehicle has two idler arms, one on the driver side and the other on the passenger side. You would need to know which one you would need replaced. If one of the arms break, you will have diffuculty steering and keeping control of vehicle. Either one will run you in the $50 to $70 range depending store and supplies.
