Hi, I have a 1994 gmc jimmy 4x4(pushbutton). My fiance drove it to her work, shut it off, worked an 8 hour shift and went to start it and the engine did not rotate. It ended up being the starter, so I replaced it in the parking lot. In reverse and 1st gear(manual) it drives kinda like the ebrake is on, I couldnt figure it out, then I pushed the 4hi button, it will flash and go out, I can hear it trying to engage, but it wont it kicks in into 2wd, in 2wd it drives fine, im not sure how long it was in 4wd as its her vehicle, but when I hit 4lo it will stay lit up and drive like that, hit the 4wd and it blinks tries to engage and goes out, it will drive fine? Im not to educated on 4x4's although I am mechanicly inclined. Can you help please?

Hello and thanks for donating

Check your shift module relay, it is on the passenger side behind the kick panel. If it is good then inspect vacuum hoses on the top and back of engine. It may also be a faulty control module for the 4WD. The best thing to do would be inspect the easy things i.E. Fuses, relay, wiring and vacuum hoses. If all check out good then you would be best to have a local shop run diagnostic test on the 4WD system, this would save a lot of headache and time without the proper diagnostic tools to find the culprit.
