1991 GMC Jimmy orange wire

Hello 2 carpros !!!
first let me say that your site here is an awsome idea.
second i have an orange wire comming off my alternator that goes into the wire harness. i dont have access to a diagrame of the wires and was hoping you can tell me where that wire goes. it burned right in half about 2 inches off the back of the alternator..and i wanna trace the wire down for a short or overload. any help here would be great.thanks guys---
