1998 GMC Envoy, 70,000 miles.
Key gets stuck in ignition switch.
The key will turn to the accessory position, and the engine will shut down, but the key often won't make it to the last turn that shuts off the current completely and allows it to be removed. It usually comes out after I try again after about 15 minutes, but not always. The switch has been replaced, but it hasn't made a difference. Can someone help?

Your park lock solenoid is not engaging. There should be a small hole on the bottom of the coulm that you can remove the cover, and insert a small screw driver to push the manual release on the park lock solenoid. This will allow you to remove the key.
This solenoid may be bad, however I suspect the Park switch on the Automatic trans controller is probably the problem. It is part of the BTSI system that tells the solenoid we are in park, and it is okay to remove the key.
Depending on whether you have a column shifter, flor shifter 2 wheel drive or 4 will depend on what sends the signal for the park position.
