I have a 2004 gmc envoy 4x4 automatic trans with about 63000 kms on it.

I drove it thru a huge puddle on a muddy road and the engine stalled out, now it wont turn over.

im going to take the spark plugs out and change the oil/filter today.

I also read to crank the engine over manually with the oil pan plug out to get any water out of the cylinders. Do I just turn the belt to do this?

is there anything else I could do before resorting to getting a mechanic to charge me an arm and a leg.

thanks for your time.

Remove the spark plugs and turn it over, watch for water shooting out. Sounds like it took a big drink. Aftermarket air intake? Also look for water in the air intake system and clean it out if there is any
