I have replaced thermostat twice and truck is over heating. Also replace waterpump 1.5 yrs ago. Do you think it is the radiater. It is a '97 gmc 1500, v6 vortex, 175000 miles. Also heater comes and goes

Run the truck until it gets kind of hot SHUT IT OFF!

Then carefully snake your hand in between the fan blades and feel around the radiator core if its untouchable on the top half and you can hold your hand on the bottom its plugged its only trying to cool with less than half the radiator.
This just happened to me but would only overheat when the ac was on. The radiator weighed over twice as much as the new one and it was empty.

Also when you first start it up do it with the rad. Cap off and watch the coolant if its moving right away the tsat is stuck open (unless you have the heater hose that connects to the rad.) If you see alot of bubbles that dont seem to go away then yuou could have a head gskt problem putting a air bubble in the upper half of the engine and it will keep coolant flow in the bottom and not allow it to cool the heads.

These are quick checks, should only take a few minutes, other than chking the rad for plugged.

Good luck
