Have a 1997 GMC Sierra. Has new battery within last 6 mo, NAPA Legend 7578. It has this intermittent starting problem. Spins over fine just wont start on occasion. Have spark & fuel pump engages & runs as directed. Sometimes I have to turn over 2-3 times & it starts. Today it wouldnt start after long hard start this early in AM. Put jumper cables on it & it started. I have noticed when I have this intermittent starting problem all I have to do is hook up jumper cable or battery charger and within a couples minutes it starts up. Do you think I have voltage & not enough amps or vice versa. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thx.

Starter spins engine freely & as usual. No dragging or slow starter issues. Just doesnt fire up & run & once running it is fine and sometimes it is fine for days then it starts up again. Battery posts are clean & tight so no issues there.

This morning replaced fuel pump & associated parts and has never started any better... my issue resolved.

It seems that when I placed jumper cables or battery charger it gave pump just enough voltage to increase pump rpms by a few PSI that allowed it to start & run...

Hope this helps a least one person, so God Bless & Good Luck!
