I have the car listed above (Maxx) in the shop for what was thought to be a fuel pump issue. The mechanic said he cannot check the fuel pump as the 10 pin male fuel pump harness connector was shot. He says he cannot find that part anywhere. My question is, where to find this wiring connector? He said it goes from the body under the seat to the fuel pump. Any ideas?
Thanks.

Good afternoon,

The tech needs to call the dealer and get a pigtail for the 10 pin connector. If they do not make the pigtail he will have to get all the pins and a connector and make one.

If they are a good shop they will know how to do this repair.

He said he called the dealer and they did not know where to get one, or did not have a part number for it. If I had that information, I would get one myself. Beginning to wonder how knowledgeably they really are.
Thanks for the information and quick reply, though.

There are many situations where pigtails are not available as yours.

In that case, they should and do have the connector part listed but you need to get each part separately. A lot of shops do not like to do this.

I would call another GM dealership and ask them about that connector. Somebody has information on it.

Thank you. Just spoke with the shop again. He said it would cost me too much in labor to have him build one. He says he is going to bypass the connector altogether and direct wire it. Sounds shabby to me.

It is. That is not the correct way to repair it at all.

What was his estimate?

$200.00 to install fuel pump I supplied, if needed. No estimate on wiring given.

Price is good for the pump, but get an estimate for the wiring before he does it.

You are welcome.

The parts for connector run about $25.00. It takes about one hour, give or take, to replace it.
