Where is the fuel pressure regulator at? It's not connected to the fuel pump it's not on the fuel rail under the intake manifold like YouTube says. So where is it and what does it look like? That's what comes up through the diagnostic computer.

Hi,

Here is what I have related to the regulator. See attached info.

FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR

Fuel Pressure Regulator
see pic 1

The fuel pressure regulator (Figure 72) is attached to the fuel rail downstream of the fuel injectors. It regulates fuel pressure supplied to the fuel injectors. The regulator is a diaphragm-operated relief valve. One side of the diaphragm senses fuel pressure and the other side is connected to the intake manifold vacuum. Fuel pressure is established by a spring preload applied to the diaphragm. Balancing one side of the diaphragm with manifold vacuum maintains a constant fuel pressure drop across the fuel injectors. Fuel pressure is high when engine vacuum is low. Excess fuel is bypassed through the fuel pressure regulator and returned through the fuel return line to the fuel tank.

You may need to look at the build date. The late 2003 trucks were some of the early fuel pump control module system vehicles where the pump pressure is controlled using the driver module and the PCM. Same system they used on 2004 and later.
What is the exact code you have, that may help if it's one common to the 2004 vehicles. A quick way to tell is to look at the fuel rail for the pressure sensor shown in the image. If that is what you have it uses the newer system.

This is the part I ordered it looks just like that I can't seem to find it. It's not on the fuel rail and it's not apart of the fuel pump assembly in the tank.

Unless yours has the regulator that bolted to the intake like the earlier trucks like the one shown. Ford had a few versions of the 4.0 out there at the same time just to make it interesting.
