I have a p0087 code. I replaced the low-pressure fuel sensor, and it is still throwing the code. What else could be wrong?

A common reason for this code is a failing fuel pump control module. However, to verify that you will need a mechanical fuel pressure test gauge (available as a loaner tool at many parts stores) and a scan tool that can read the pressure that the sensor is reading. A good one for Ford if you don't already have one is called FORScan. In the windows version it can do things even the factory tools cannot. With those you can activate the pump and check its pressure against the mechanical gauge. I suspect it will be low because of either a worn pump or a control module that is failing.
With the pressure gauge installed (directions are usually in the kit as well as the adapters) you start the engine and watch the pressure the scan tool shows and the pressure the mechanical gauge shows. They should be above 45 psi. With the scan tool reading within about 4psi of the mechanical gauge.
If it is low, you can use the control on the scan tool to raise the pressure, if it doesn't get higher then you need to check the fuel pump itself and the pump driver module. For that you access the fuel pump driver module, it's tucked behind the trim panel next to the floor area of the rear seat. Once there you can disconnect the pump driver and use 12 volts from the battery to power the pump to test it. You apply battery positive to terminal 5 in the connector (yellow wire with gray stripe) and a ground to terminal 8 (White wire with brown stripe) that will power the pump 100 percent. Now check the fuel pressure. If now you see 45 psi or a bit more, and you didn't see the same pressure with the scan tool at 100% then it is the control module that is bad. If you still see a lower pressure, it is the fuel pump. Do some testing and return please.
